When selecting a portable power station, it is important to consider battery capacity and output specifications based on your intended use. Here are some key points to help you decide:
1. Battery Capacity (Wh)
When choosing a portable power station, consider the battery capacity (Wh) and the power requirements of the devices you plan to use. A higher capacity means the power station can run more devices or provide power for a longer period, but it is typically heavier and more expensive.
For example, a 1070Wh portable power station can approximately power:
Hair dryer (800W): 1.1 hours
LCD TV (200W): 4.1 hours
Actual runtime may vary depending on the device’s power consumption and the power station’s efficiency.
For emergency use, we recommend models with 1000Wh or more. These can cover essential needs, such as lighting and smartphone charging, for 2–4 days during a disaster.
2. Check the Power Consumption of Your Devices
Before selecting a model, check the power consumption (W) of the devices you want to use.
If you plan to use multiple devices at the same time, consider the total combined power consumption when choosing a portable power station.
Please also note that appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners, and water pumps may have a higher startup (surge) power, which can be several times their rated power.
3. Check Output Port Types and Quantity
Make sure the power station has the types and number of output ports you need, such as USB ports or AC outlets.
If you plan to use multiple devices simultaneously, the number of ports is an important factor.
4. AC Output Waveform and Frequency
AC output comes in three types: square wave, modified sine wave, and pure sine wave.
For sensitive electronics or devices with motors, a portable power station with pure sine wave output is recommended.
Also, check whether the AC output supports both 50Hz and 60Hz. If it only supports one, some devices may not work properly or could be damaged.
